R10 Pathway

Franchise Trophy

Annual global event where franchises compete for the coveted Franchise Champion Trophy and Prizes.

Each franchise consists of 4 teams each: Men, Women, U18 Boys and U18 Girls who also battle for their Division Cup.

4-Week Competitions

Regional competitions over 4 weeks, where Men and Women teams compete for the Franchise Series Trophy, Division Series Trophies and Prizes.

Franchises teams are joined by wild card teams from the host region.

Weekend Competitions

Regional competition of 1 or 2 days during the weekend, starting at U13 boys and girls age groups, to men and women teams. Invitationals aim to provide R10 pathway opportunities and visibility to as many players as possible.

Franchise teams are joined by a variety of local teams at different age groups.

Elite and Development

High-Performance
Training

The high-performance training takes place at the R10 centers in San Clemente, California and Gordon’s Bay, South Africa. Organized in 2 blocks of ~4 months each, the training program prepares athletes for the various R10 competitions and other elite competitions and teams. It is a pathway to earn a spot in one of the R10 franchise teams.

R10 centers prepare high-performance athletes for their next level in academics and life skills, whether it is finishing high-school or obtaining a college degree. Additionally, we offer various certificates and apprenticeships towards establishing careers including in eCommerce, sports commentary, marketing, finance, trade skills and more.

FRANCHISE CHAMPIONS

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The ultimate annual event, crowning the Franchise Champion, this competition brings the best of the best across men, women, U18 boys and U18 girls.

Franchises teams compete in their own division, and earn points that add up to the total franchise points. The franchise with the most points at the end of the 3-day competition, wins the Franchise Trophy and Franchise Prize.

THE SERIES

The Series takes place over 4 weeks, with 1 day of competition during each week.

Franchise senior teams of men and women earn points every week, that add up towards a "Series" total. The Franchise with the most points earns the Franchise Series Trophy and Prize.

THE INVITATIONAL

These are regional competitions taking place over 1 or 2 days, and organized for various age groups, starting with U13 boys and girls, all the way to Men and Women divisions. Franchises field select teams, while schools, clubs and academies have a chance to apply and be invited to participate as well.

The goal is to make it possible for any player to be visible to coaches and selectors of the R10 Pathway, and hopefully earn a spot in the R10 Series and/or R10 Championship.

For the first time in South Africa, The South African Deaf Rugby Association (SADRA) is hosting a historic international Deaf Rugby Series! R10C Selects Ladies team, a first-time hybrid of hearing and hard-of-hearing players, will compete in this historical series, alongside national teams of Australia, England, Japan, Ghana, and, of course, South Africa.

R10C Selects team will face England Rugby - Deaf in the XV Series, and will be led by the Rugby Tens Director of Coaches Advancement, Ryno Combrinck, and former Springbok and Rugby Tens HP Coach, Lorinda Brown. This International Series will be crucial for the sport's growth and development, and most important, for standing up for #Inclusion. This series promises an unforgettable celebration of rugby, showcasing the skill and passion of deaf rugby players.
