South African Rugby Player, Nomsa Mokwai is a Springbok Women’s 15’s player since 2012. She played World Cup Qualifiers in 2019 and the test match against Spain in 2019.
She is currently part of the training squad preparing for the 2022 World Cup that will be held in New Zealand.
Nomsa was one of the first female players to be contacted by the South African Rugby Union in 2014 and formed part of Springbok 7’s leadership team in 2017. She was also part of the Springbok women’s 7s team from 2014-2018 and played on the HSBC 7’s circuit and Commonwealth games.
Nomsa has played for both the Leopards 7’s and 15’s teams from 2010-2018. Here she also captained the Leopards team from 2014-2016 and played for Western Province Rugby Union from 2019-2020.
When Nomsa is not playing rugby she gives back to her country in another way, as she is a professional nurse at Groote Schuur Hospital and currently working in the maternity, trauma, and emergency wards.Her plan is to continue working hard and to grab as many playing opportunities as possible to make her World Cup dream come true.
