Devon Muller, a South African born player, started his rugby career early on when he landed a five-year rugby bursary at Westville Boys High School in Durban, SA. His dedication and hard-working mannerisms did not only award him the bursary but awarded him the Sportsman of the Year at his school.
It was here when opportunities opened for Muller as he was selected for the KZN U16 Grant Komo Week side in 2013, and made the KZN U18 Craven Week team in 2016. He was then offered contracts from the Sharks, Bulls, Leopards, and Western Province rugby unions. He also got the opportunity to play in a tri-series against Argentina, after Westville Boys High School first-team coach Dean Carelse recommended Muller to Brazilian Rugby CEO Agustin Danza as he took this opportunity. So he jetted off, over the water to start a new life.
It was not long after the first game, that the Brazilian Rugby Union offered the talented loose-forward a two-year contract with the Brazil U20 and the senior teams. Muller aims to get scouted and sign with an AVIVA Premiership Club while playing in Brazil and hopes to make a career out of rugby.
Words from Muller: Stay humble and keep your feet on the ground. What is meant to be will be!! Put your faith in GOD… Philippians 4:13 ~ “I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me”
